Bono to Become World's Richest Musician After Facebook IPO

Bono, that guy from U2, is set to become the world's richest musician in the world when Facebook's IPO starts trading tomorrow, NME reports. He will overtake Paul McCartney (that guy from the Beatles) and will likely commemorate the occasion with a very heartfelt "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"

The Irish singer owns 2.3 percent of the Facebook shares after having purchased them at $90 million in 2009. Now that the company is worth over $100 billion, Bono will be worth more than $1.5 billion. Meanwhile, McCartney is just over worth a measly billion dollars.

Let this be a lesson for all of us who didn't buy stock in Facebook. At least we can feel superior if, in this particular instance, he counts his money with the grammatically incorrect "Uno, dos, tres, catorce!" (one, two, three, 14 in Spanish).

    Big Underdog: Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan won HBO-America’s heart on the first season of The Wire playing Wallace, a sweet teenage drug dealer in Baltimore who gets murdered. Wallace was one of the most beloved characters in the past decade of TV, a fact Jordan gets reminded of quiet often. “Even today, when I walk down the street, people yell, ‘Hey Wallace!’” he says.

Jordan has made a career of playing minors coping with major drama. Earlier this year, he portrayed high school jock Steve Montgomery in Chronicle. It’s his second QB stint, after his role on Friday Night Lights as Vince Howard, a kid from the Wire side of Texas town chasing gridiron glory.

“Growing up, football was the only organized sport I did not play,” says Jordan, 25, of his upbringing in Newark, New Jersey. He keeps a detailed character journal with a full biographical back-story for each role. “I probably wrote the longest journal for Vince. There was so much drama.”

Jordan’s resume also includes parts on TV’s Parenthood and George Lucas’ Tuskegee Airmen homage, Red Tails. His next film, Fruitvale, is about Oscar Grant, an unarmed young black man who was shot and killed by police on a San Francisco train platform in 2009. Jordan signed to do the film in March, when he heard about the controversial murder of Florida teen Trayvon martin.

He’s happy that gritty, empathetic realism has become his calling card: “It seems like the roles I work on keep mirroring current events.”

Mmmmmm. My bb is just popping up in more and more publications and roles. I hope Fruitvale turns out well and gets a lot of marketing and that pilot he's in gets picked up.

The CW to Redevelop The Selection Pilot: There's Still Hope For the Hunger Games-Esque Series

We just might get our Hunger Games TV show after all.

Although The CW didn’t pick up the Aimee Teegarden pilot The Selection for its 2012-2013 season, Deadline reports that the network hasn’t given up on spinning Kiera Cass’s dystopian book trilogy into a TV series. An epic romance set 300 years in the future, The Selection centers on a young woman (Aimee Teegarden) who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to marry a prince and become the next queen of a war-torn nation.

Sounds a lot like The Hunger Games, no? Well, that’s the idea, and it’s no wonder The CW wants to try again with this one, since it succeeded big-time when it capitalized on the Twilight craze with The Vampire Diaries. According to Deadline, the network is looking to redevelop The Selection pilot, most likely with Aimee still playing the lead. CW president Mark Pedowitz tells the site, “I truly believe that there is a series in The Selection.”

    So make it happen, guys!

Star Magazine remains delusional and accuses Josh Hutcherson of harassing Jennifer Lawrence

    This is an odd one.

Star magazine claims Josh Hutcherson is harassing Jennifer Lawrence, his co-star in The Hunger Games.

The tabloid explains that Hutcherson is “still trying to boost his celebrity status,” so he’s supposedly “chasing” Lawrence.

“He’s really p-ssing her off,” alleges a Star “source,” adding, “He harasses her to go to dinner, and it stresses her out. And he gets annoyed when she turns him down.”

    Hmm.

We know scandal-starved rags like Star want real life to be as conflict-oriented as The Hunger Games — but allegations that Hutcherson and Lawrence’s friendship is actually some weird, ugly power play really belong on the fiction shelf.

A source close to Hutcherson tells Gossip Cop it’s ”the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard”

Lil' Kim Exposes The Truth About Nicki Minaj

Earlier this week Lil' Kim visted Power 105's the Breakfast Club.  As expected they came right at her about the beef with Nicki and Kim didn't shy away.  In the video Kim details the history of her and Nicki dating back to their collaboration track with Birdman.  As expected the breakfast club shades Kim and clearly sides with Nicki.

    Is Nicki a fraud? )

Personally after watching these videos there's no denying Nicki wanted to be Kim and the only female rapper in the game.  She's swagger jacked everything from her.

The Mary Sue interviews Rachel Weil, the creator of Femicom, a web museum of “girly games” which seeks to archive and provoke discussion about those most-derided computer games: the ones with all the pink. It’s a great, crunchy discussion about how products “aimed at women” can simultaneously alienate male and female gamers, but also how the gaming community is so quick to disassociate itself with games thought of as feminine.

Cannes 2012: 'Bourne's' Paul Greengrass to tackle FC Barcelona

Though he's famous for his handheld verite style of filmmaking, Paul Greengrass has never made a documentary. That will change -- and in very high-profile fashion -- with the "Bourne Ultimatum" director's new project: a documentary about the legendary FC Barcelona soccer club that will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival market Thursday, according to people familiar with the production who were not authorized to speak about it publicly.

Jon Hamm & Daniel Radcliffe confirmed for "A Young Doctor's Notebook" miniseries
This is the confirmed story, mods, not some tabloid half-assed rumor.

Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe have been confirmed as the stars of a new U.K. comedy drama miniseries based on a Russian novel in which they both play the same character.

The pair feature in "A Young Doctor's Notebook," a four-part skein inspired by a collection of short stories by Russian writer and playwright Mikhail Bulgakov set during the Russian Revolution.

Hamm takes the role of the older doctor, who has a series of bleakly comic exchanges with his younger self, portrayed by Radcliffe.

Hamm said: "Big Talk has been championing this project unabashedly and I share their great enthusiasm for bringing something original, dark, funny and moving to light.

"Also, I have been watching 'Bridget Jones's Diary' on infinite loop, and I think I've finally got this accent thing sorted..."

Radcliffe added: "I have been an obsessive Bulgakov reader for a couple of years now so when the opportunity to become involved in this project came up, I could barely contain my excitement.

"The book is funny, grotesque and heartfelt in equal measure and I look forward to working with a great group of people to help bring it to life."

Source - I do wonder who's sacrificing their eyes by wearing colored contacts for the role, as Dan has blue eyes and Jon's got green ones.

ONLY MODELS ON THE FORBES CELEBRITY 100; GISELE, KATE, ADRIANA...NO ROOM FOR YOUR FAVES

The annual Forbes Celebrity 100 list went live today, with Jennifer Lopez making a huge jump from No. 50 last year to No. 1.

There weren’t many fashion-industry people in the top 100, but three models did make the cut: 31-year-old Gisele Bündchen, 38-year-old Kate Moss and 30-year-old Adriana Lima.

Bündchen (No. 61), beat Moss and Lima on account of her recent record-paying modeling gigs, endorsement deals and independent licensing ventures. Even just in her native Brazil Bündchen shills for Pantene, Esprit and Versace, and she makes a percentage of profits on Ipanema flip-flops and other products bearing her name.

Her marriage to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady also writes headlines: After the 2012 Super Bowl, she was criticized for strong remarks she made about the poor performance of Brady’s receivers. Forbes rates her as the highest-earning model in the world (even though she dropped a spot from last year’s list), earning an estimated $45 million last year.

But Moss (No. 94) is no slouch. Last July she married longtime boyfriend Jaime Hince and remains arguably fashion’s most iconic muse, with endorsement deals with Longchamp, Mango, Rimmel and Vogue Eyewear. She also has a lucrative design deal with TopShop going back to 2007. Forbes estimates that she earned $9 million in 2011.

Lima, the Victoria’s Secret model from New York, just squeaked by to make the cut at the bottom of the list at No. 100. She made a big splash in early 2012 when she appeared in Super Bowl commercials for Kia and Teleflora. The Victoria’s Secret deal from 2000 still makes up most of her earnings, but she also models for Donna Karan and Mavi Jeans, among others. Forbes estimates she made $7 million last year.

The Celebrity 100 is based on several things, not just endorsement deals or number of projects in a given year. It evaluates entertainment-related earnings plus media visibility (exposure in print, television, radio and online).

Lopez, for instance, unseated Lady Gaga, who topped the list last year. The pop star slides to fifth place this time with $52 million in earnings, down from $90 million last year (Gaga didn’t tour much in the last 12 months). Her new album, Born This Way, was still a smash hit, selling 1 million copies its first week of sales.

FORBES U LIE! ADRIANA EARNED 8 MILLION LAST YEAR NOT 7 MILLION, AND KATE EARNED 13 MILLION NOT 9 MILLION. U STATED IT YOURSELVES

Juno Temple joins Angelina Jolie's 'Maleficent'

Juno Temple is joining the cast of Maleficent, Disney’s live-action retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale.

Angelina Jolie is playing the title character in the fantasy that tells the story from the point of view of the fairy-witch who cursed Aurora to a permanent sleep on her 16th birthday. Robert Stromberg is directing.

Elle Fanning already is on board as Aurora and Sharlto Copley is Stefan, the half-human and half-fairy bastard son of the human king. Also in the cast are Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake), Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter), Kenneth Cranham (Made in Dagenham), Sam Riley (Brighton Rock) and Lesley Manville (Another Year).

Temple would join Staunton and Manville as the three pixie fairies in the classic fairy tale who are tasked with taking care of Aurora in the cottage in the woods. Temple will play Thistletwit, who -- like the other pixies, Knotgrass and Flittle -- is neglectful and superficial.'

The movie is shooting this summer in London.

Temple, repped by UTA and Troika, will appear in this summer’s Batman sequel, The Dark Knight Rises, and is one of the stars of William Friedkin's Killer Joe, which just screened at the Cannes Film Festival. She recently wrapped Magic Magic opposite Michael Cera and Emily Browning.

And here's the video from her Nylon cover shoot:

Beat Takeshi compares same-sex marriage with bestiality

Gay rights campaigners in Japan hit out Thursday at Takeshi “Beat” Kitano after the award-winning actor-director compared same-sex marriage with bestiality.

Kitano, whose yakuza gangster films are popular around the world, enraged activists with his comments on a popular current affairs show as guests were being asked for their opinions on Barack Obama’s stance on gay marriage.

“Obama supports gay marriage. You would support a marriage to an animal eventually, then,” Kitano said after being shown footage of people celebrating the U.S. president’s comments.

Gays and lesbians do not usually encounter outright hostility in Japan, but there are few rights built into law for same-sex couples and there is little public debate on gay marriage.

Taiga Ishikawa, a gay activist and Tokyo assembly member who was among those shown celebrating in the program on Saturday, said the remark was unbecoming for someone of Kitano’s global stature.

“He is a world famous film director. It is disappointing that such an influential figure made that kind of negative comment,” Ishikawa told AFP.

“As a movie director, he must be a person with a great sense of imagination. I wish he had been able to put himself in the position of gay and lesbian people in society.”

Kitano, whose 1997 film Hana-bi won the Golden Lion at Venice, is a regular feature on Japanese television, hosting his own weekly show.

Last week Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to openly back gay marriage, an issue that sharply divides America.

Earlier this week, Tokyo Disney Resort confirmed same-sex wedding ceremonies could be held at hotels inside the popular theme park.
